About Us

Our mission is to make healthcare feel personal again.

Ascent Healthcare provides thoughtful, inclusive, and evidence-informed care built around each patient’s needs, goals, and lived experience. We believe patients deserve time, transparency, and a meaningful relationship with their healthcare team.

We are also working to challenge a healthcare system that too often feels rushed, fragmented, and difficult to navigate. By creating a more flexible and relationship-centered model, we hope to give patients—and providers—a better way forward.

Your path. Your pace. Better health ahead.

Meet Alison Farr
DNP, FNP-C, MSCP

Alison is a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience in emergency medicine, cardiology, and primary care. Across these settings, she has learned that some of the most important details emerge when a patient has enough time to finish their story—and a clinician is willing to listen beyond the first explanation.

For a time, Alison wondered whether she had lost her love for the profession she had worked so hard to enter. Within systems built around brief appointments and standardized pathways, she felt increasingly constrained by how little room remained for curiosity, autonomy, and the complexity of an individual life. Frustration began to overshadow the meaning she had once found in her work.

The turning point came when she understood that she still loved caring for people. She needed an environment where she could do it well.

Ascent Healthcare grew from that realization. Alison created a practice where time could become part of the care itself: time to notice patterns, explore uncertainty, explain the science, and build a relationship strong enough to hold difficult conversations. Her approach is deliberate and detailed, shaped by the belief that a person’s health deserves more attention than a hurried encounter can offer.

Her clinical focus includes women’s health, menopause care, and relationship-based primary care. As a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP), she helps patients find understanding and direction during a stage of life that too often leaves them searching for both. She has spoken at conferences on the cardiometabolic shifts of menopause and offered local seminars, bringing conversations about hormonal, cardiovascular, and metabolic health into the community.

Her commitment to thoughtful care also extends to the future of her profession. As an elected commissioner on the Nurse Practitioner Certifying Board (NPCB), formerly AANPCB, Alison helps uphold the rigorous standards that guide nurse practitioners into certified practice. It is an opportunity to help shape the preparation of those who will care for the next generation of patients.

At the heart of Alison’s work is a belief that healthcare should leave people with greater understanding and a stronger voice in their own care. Through Ascent, she has made room for the kind of medicine she always hoped to practice—and for the people whose stories give that work its meaning.

Alicia has a calm, thoughtful presence that makes it easy to feel comfortable and heard. She listens closely, asks thoughtful questions, and wants to understand more about what you’re experiencing. She gives you time and space to share your concerns, especially the ones that can be difficult to put into words.

Alicia spent more than 17 years as a nurse before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, working with a wide range of people in many different care settings. Those experiences shaped her open-minded approach to healthcare. Her focus is on prevention and helping you work toward your own health goals in ways that feel sustainable.

She also brings a wealth of knowledge in gender-affirming care, hormone health throughout life, prenatal care, and lactation support, alongside comprehensive primary care. If you’re experiencing hormone concerns before menopause, or you’ve been looking for a provider who will take an unhurried approach to unpacking your health concerns, Alicia is a wonderful person to see.

Outside of work, Alicia enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children. You’ll often find her in the kitchen experimenting with alternative recipes or dreaming up ideas for her garden.

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

"I have had a wonderful experience with Alison Farr, DNP. She is caring, compassionate, and truly listens to my concerns. I appreciate the time she takes to answer my questions and make me feel comfortable and supported. It means so much to have a provider who genuinely cares about her patients and their well being. I am very grateful for the care and attention she has given me and feel fortunate to have her as my provider." ~ PW

"Alison Farr has been a remarkable health partner over the past four years, starting when menopause hit me like a ton of bricks and I didn’t know where to turn for relief. She is caring, empathetic, extremely knowledgeable and, above all, treats health care as a partnership, not a dictatorship. She listens deeply, is open to questions and new ideas, and is always willing to listen, explore, learn, and experiment to create the best possible treatment plan. If she doesn’t know something, she readily says so and then immediately seeks out the answer. This quality alone is like gold in a medical provider.

Any woman who has experienced perimenopause knows what a confusing and emotional roller-coaster ride it can be. There’s no provider I’d rather have at my side helping me navigate the craziness. I can’t recommend Alison and Ascent highly enough." ~ML

"Dr. Farr’s guidance and care have completely changed how I approach my health. I used to see a doctor only once a year or when something was wrong. Now I have open, ongoing conversations about my health, and I've reached a level of wellbeing I didn't know was possible.

She is thoughtful in her approach, willing to support me, and ready to adjust my care as needed, all while advocating for me. She is also constantly learning more about women's health and shares what she learns along the way. I'm deeply grateful. I've learned how to advocate for my own health, and I find myself passing that knowledge on to friends and family." ~M.S

"I am so fortunate a friend recommended Alison Farr and Ascent Healthcare.  I am in healthcare and I was impressed by her knowledge, the time spent with me, and the areas of focus past providers had not considered. She listens, is engaged, is super smart, forward thinking, and we worked together to come up with a plan to address areas of concern. The office staff is responsive and friendly too!  I am so grateful!" ~SS

"I'm only about six months into having Dr. Farr as my PCP, but so far, so good. First of all, she listens - it never feels like she has to rush to the next patient, and she takes her time coming up with recommendations and advice. Second, she gets back to your questions really quickly between appointments. It just feels like you're supported when you're in her care." ~HR
